What can often be one of the most grey areas of organising a wedding is to decide and decipher who pays for what amongst the bridal party. For a guideline to go by, we’ve covered the main items bridesmaids and brides share responsibility for and how to approach the process in a fun, light hearted manner!
Dress & Shoes
The main costs for a bridesmaids are in two items alone: the dress and the shoes. These are generally paid for by the bridesmaid herself, as the maid can re-use the items post-wedding or sell them off if she wishes. As these can often be a significant cost to the maids, it is important for the bride to consult her gals and make sure the whole bridal party is happy with the style, colour and overall choice (but the bride has the final say, of course!)
Hair & Make-up
The two main costs from the bride’s end are considered a treat for the ladies and a “thank you” for being a part of her special day. Hair and make-up are usually covered by the bride as a way of pampering her bridal party to ensure everyone feels beautiful and celebrated as part of such a special day.
The bridal shower is usually thrown by the bride’s mother, as a way of giving her blessing and to celebrate the life of her daughter (and how she was responsible for her upbringing, of course!) Bridesmaids are often heavily involved in the day and can even be in charge of throwing the shower or making sure it runs smoothly on the day.
Outside of the big day itself, the hen’s night is the maids’ biggest responsibility and there’s a lot of importance on making it a night to remember! It is important for the maids to be generous and not skimp out on the event, giving the bride no need to stress and all the reasons in the world to party!
A final thank you gift to the girls for their hard work in planning and helping with the big day is a small gift in the form of jewellery. This is not only important for the day itself, but a great way for the maids to remember being a part of such a special day.
